He did no sin, he already had the Holy Spirit. So why was Jesus baptized? John the Baptist wondered too? A simple answer was to set an example, but that's not entirely true. Jesus' baptism reveals the extent to which God has gone to save humanity. |

Not everything about God is understood by men. The Apostle Paul declares that through grace he understood the Gentiles are fellow heirs and share in salvation. As Jesus Christ is proclaimed, untold millions will come to receive his precious gift of salvation. By grace, we today understand God’s plan to save all mankind. How he chooses to bring it all about remains a mystery, yet the church seems to be paramount in the process. He welcomes us to help in any way we can. |

Calvin taught that people who come to Christ were foreordained to do so and the rest are just lost. Others believe that all people must be reached with the gospel before they die or they are lost. Many are disillusioned by the idea of a "loving God" who would burn babies and others just because they never heard the message of Jesus. |

What were God’s first words as a human? His loving concern for humanity is illustrated in his becoming a human baby. He came and experienced the entire human existence so he could bring humanity at every level back to himself. God has communicated with man from the beginning, but with his entrance into the human realm, he speaks the true word as the True Word from God. He is God’s voice speaking to man. |

Why does the manger scene overflow with joy and warmth? Is it all wrapped up in the birth of the little baby Jesus who would someday grow up to be the Savior? It is so much more! The baby in the manger is God who has entered humanity to fully redeem it. Jesus, as Son of God, was at the same time a little baby and the sustainer of the universe. He became human without ceasing to be God. Celebrate the birth of Jesus, experience the joy that Jesus in the manger is Emmanuel, God with us! |

Following a tragic first year, then a second year of recovery with bumper crops early Americans set a day of feasting and thanking God for his blessings. As we celebrate Thanksgiving today, we too feast with family and thank God for his blessings. Let's focus on the six questions of who, what, when, why, where and how of Thanksgiving.

Are Christians enslaved by existing teaching about repentance? Most feel the need to repent in order to be forgiven and accepted by God. Is this the intent of scripture and what God requires? Today let’s look at sin and repentance from a Christocentric point of view. When the starting point is sin, then all study goes one direction, but when the starting point is Jesus Christ, then study follows another direction. Repentance is a part of our Christian walk, but mostly it is to reorient allegiance toward God. |

To begin a new church in the middle of Greek paganism was quite a feat for the Apostle Paul. Yet the fledgling church survived and reflected the faith, hope and love of God. These lasting characteristics of the Christian Church are described by Paul, and stand as a testimony to the endurance of the seeds planted in the early church, and continued down through the ages. They still bring encouragement to Christians all over the world, as the Holy Spirit nurtures, preserves and grows the church. |

Through the Bible there is similarly a trail humanity took laden with suffering and pain, the way of sin. That way is also a Trail of Tears. Through the Incarnation, that trail has come to the end.
